“Little Buzzer”

Every fall, bears wander through our backyard—curious, calm, and full of presence. I always feel a pull to paint them, as if they’re reminding me of the quiet strength that comes from simply being. This bear appeared one afternoon, and it quickly felt like he wasn’t meant to be alone. In nature, nothing ever truly is—so a small bee arrived to keep him company. The bee and the bear share a gentle balance: power and humility, stillness and motion, earth and air. Both the bear’s and bee’s eyes are painted with my handmade Rocky Mountain earth pigment, grounding this piece in the land where they belong.
